All My Series

A little over two years ago I became very anti-reading. I'm not sure what did it, but I had gone from reading one or two books a month to not reading anything at all. I'd just finished all of Tami Hoag's books (to date), James Patterson's Alex Cross Series, and Karen Marie Moning's Highlander/Fae series, but suddenly no books captured my interest. People would give me books or lend me books, but nothing stirred me at all.

Then life, as it will, took a strange turn and I "got sick." The day after Mother's Day 2006 I had major surgery. As a gift my therapist gave me a gift card to B&N with the hopes that maybe I'd find something I'd fall in love with and as a way to take my mind off of the pain I was in. I jumped onto the B&N.com and after a whole lot of searching I came up with Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson, Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison, and a book on Greek Mythology just to be sure I'd love the purchases. You see, I'd never read anything by these two women and with my current state of mind I had no way of knowing how the books would "affect" me.

Not since Tami Hoag's Night Sins or James Patterson's Sam's Letters to Jennifer have I blown through two books so quickly. Davidson's "Queen Betsy" series is hilarious! Betsy is the kind of girl who says what she wants, when she wants, no matter the result. Harrison's "Rachel Morgan" series is very detailed and is full of action. Needless to say.... I have since purchaed every book (to date) in both series.

Since that time, I've explored other Paranormal & Paranormal Romance series, such as: Candance Havens' "Bronwyn the Witch" series, Lynn Viehl's "Darkyn" series, and Laurell K. Hamilton's "Anita Blake" series. And I'm always on the lookout for a series which I will find interest in. I've recently become intrigued by Gena Showalter's "Lords of the Underworld" series which will begin May 1st.

The beginning of 2008 was very hard for me, again, and although I had my many books to keep me company, it wasn't until Lynn Viehl's "Darkyn" series piqued my interest that I went back to reading as I did while in high school.... one book every week. (Thank the goddess I don't have a boyfriend.) Now it's just a matter of time before all my series' have books coming out and I'll be back with the characters I know and love.

Why Is This Man Not More Famous?

So for those of you who don't know him, that's actor Ryan Phillipe. I just don't get why he's not considered a major star and his ex wife, who shall remain nameless, is. I recently saw two movies which Ryan stars in, Breach and Chaos, and I thought his performance in both was superb. I'm so sorry that he didn't get nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Breach, he certainly deserved one. He's one man who should be more famous.

A Plea Unheard

So I'm basically nobody. Just a girl who loves to read, watch television, play video games with my son, listen to music, and catch a movie as often as life allows. I've told you I blog on another site, tv.com, under the same name, boromirbeauty, and if you really want to know more about my life you can always check me out over there. I will admit that most of my blogs lately have been about the books I've been reading and sexy men on television and in movies. I've also told you that I joined this blogspot thing in order to comment on writer Lynn Viehl's blog, and as I've recently found out, on the blogs of several other writers. Saying all that has lead to what I've decided to write about today.....

I was reading some old blogs of Lynn Viehl's and came across one in which she says that the 7th book in the Darkyn Series might be her last. It's more or less the last one she must write, because of her contract I'm assuming, but it could be her last forever.

Ms. Viehl, if by the Goddess you read this or get wind of this, I am begging with you... Don't give up on the Darkyn. Yours is such a rich and wonderfully woven series, that it begs further exploration. What I love so much is that while the Darkyn Series is in the category of paranormal romance, it's not just a bunch of sex scenes peppered with some dialogue in between. The stories have plots, twists and turns, good and evil, thought!!! And while there are sex scenes, it doesn't dominate the entire story. The characters are well thought out and not just variations on those of your previous books. Michael is nothing like Lucan and Lucan is nothing like Valentin. There's no typical "damsel" in each story, Alex is a Doctor, Nicola is a thief, and Sam a cop.... they're not all virgins with no families who could care less about dropping their lives to go live with their mates. I could go on and on, but I think you get my point. No matter what, thanks for writing such a wonderful series. :)

Time for Candace Havens

I finished Evermore last night. Try as I might, I couldn't keep from crying. The character of Jayr reminded me of myself a little. Okay, so I'm not a Darkyn but that need she had to be loved and wanted... well I think we all know that feeling. Ms. Viehl is a fabulous writer and this series is a must for any Paranormal Romance fan. Since the 6th book in the series, Twilight Fall isn't coming out until July, it's time to move on (or back) to another series I enjoy.

Candace Havens' Bronwyn the Witch series aka Charmed &. Only this time, in Like a Charm, it seems that another character from the series is taking center stage. Haven's has this easy way about her humor in these novels, 3 before this one, and her characters are very entertaining. I've got lots to do these next few weeks, so I probably won't get finished with it as fast as the previous books, but I'll savor it all the same.
